Central with the forest nearby in Nobelhorst, Almere

Sneha and Tanmay are originally from India and have been living in Almere for three years now. Last year they moved to their home in Nobelhorst. This house has everything they were looking for and they have no plans to leave Nobelhorst just yet.

‘Nobelhorst exceeded our expectations’

‘We already had a house in Almere Centrum and were looking for a bigger house in Almere. One of our friends lived in Nobelhorst (now two blocks away) and told us that a house became available. When we saw the area and the house, it exceeded our expectations and we were immediately out of it,’ says Sneha with a laugh.

Everything we need

“This house has everything we need. Because it is new construction, we do not have to maintain it and the surface of the house also suits us completely. In total we have four large bedrooms. One spacious bedroom in the attic and three large bedrooms on the first floor.

Good contact

“Not only the house, but also the neighborhood appealed to them,” says Tanmay. Our garden is located on a car-free courtyard. Together with all the neighbours, we regularly invest money in the summer to rent a bouncy castle, for example. The neighbourhood also regularly organizes activities. We can’t go all the time but try to connect regularly. There is also a Whatsapp group with the neighbours, for example. If someone needs something, it is placed in the app and there is always a neighbor who can lend it.

Forest, shops and public transport nearby

It is a combination of the neighbourhood, the house and the location that made Sneha and Tanmay fall in love with Nobelhorst. “The location near the forest especially appealed to us. Within minutes we are in the woods with our dog to walk around and experience nature. Stadslandgoed de Kemphaan is also only ten minutes by bike. There is a lot to do here for children’, says Tanmay.

The distance to Almere Centrum was also an important factor. “We actually go to the center every day. From Nobelhorst it is only 15 minutes by car, 20 minutes by bike and 20 minutes by bus. Here you will find many (clothing) shops and various tokos where you can go for herbs, among other things. We love to cook and actually cook every night. And if we don’t want to cook, we order Indian food at Taj Mahal in Almere Poort. Luckily they deliver to Nobelhorst!’ says Sneha. In the afternoon we are Dutch and we eat a sandwich,’ Tanmay jokes.

‘And Nobelhorst has recently had a direct bus connection to Almere Centrum station. From here you can easily take the intercity to Amsterdam Central. You can be in the heart of Amsterdam within 20 minutes.’
